Aloha!
I’m so excited to kick off a brand-new blog series all about our recent family adventure to beautiful, breathtaking Hawaii! This trip was such a gift—filled with faith, fun, sunshine, and yes… some truly delicious food (some of it on plan, some of it grace-filled and off-plan!). Over the next couple of months, I’ll be sharing stories, moments, and tips from our time on the islands that I hope will inspire and encourage you—especially if you’re planning your own family travels this summer.
Why Hawaii?
This trip came at a perfect time in our lives. After last year’s anniversary cruise to Alaska, David and I wanted something tropical and relaxing this year—something our whole family could enjoy. Hawaii felt like the right blend of beauty, culture, history, and adventure. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
Whether we were exploring waterfalls, visiting historic sites, or enjoying treats by the ocean, we made lifelong memories and found joy in the little things.
What You Can Expect in This Series
This blog series will take you along for the ride—one story, one adventure at a time. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming:
- Celebrating Easter Sunday in Oahu
- Our unforgettable luau night
- A memorable day at Pearl Harbor
- Exploring the lush beauty of Waimea Falls
- Praying before the relics of St. Damien of Molokai, St. Marianne Cope, and the Jubilee Cross
- A fun and educational visit to Sea Life Park
- Sampling flavored nuts at the Macadamia Nut Farm
- Touring Kahuku Farms and tasting fresh chocolate and fruit
- Standing in awe at the Halona Blowhole Lookout
- My favorite bowls from Sunrise Shack—yes, I went back more than once!
- Exploring local flavors at the Farmer’s Market and the International Market
- How I navigated staying on plan (and when I let go with grace!)
Why This Series Matters to Me (And Hopefully to You)
This wasn’t just a vacation—it was a time to slow down, connect as a family, and practice what I preach as a Trim Healthy Mama coach: living a healthy, balanced life without stress or shame. I didn’t aim for perfection. I aimed for peace. Some days I stuck to my plan, some days I gave myself grace and just enjoyed the moment. And that’s exactly what I want to encourage you to do this summer too.
If you’re feeling the pressure of sticking to your health goals while planning a family trip, I hope this series gives you hope, practical ideas, and the reminder that grace and progress matter more than perfection.
